The sun’s rays fall on our homes more frequently as changes occur. In Nomad.Warsaw, we find inspirations in travel, distant corners of the world, and people. This time, we share our spring delights from the worlds of books and African baskets.
Spring is the time when we begin seeking new destinations for summer travel, eagerly searching for the sun’s rays in every corner of the city. We crave adventure. On days when we yearn for warmth and evenings spent sipping wine outdoors, we turn to one of our four favorite books:
Stay Wild is a book that encourages you to disconnect from online life for a moment and reconnect with nature. It’s a collection of trails that promote environmentally friendly travel. From lofty treehouses to cozy cabins, houseboats, yurts, and mobile homes that allow you to cook meals outdoors while a fire flickers in the background. We love it for its simplicity and for showing that the world we desire is often right next to us.
Remote Places to Stay is an album showcasing modern luxuries: silence, peace, and open spaces. From Africa to the Arctic, we journey with the authors to remote places that can sometimes only be reached on foot, by boat, or by train. We mark the places we must visit!
Life’s a Beach, evokes the smell of salty sea breeze, the sound of crashing waves, and the feeling of relief that comes with life on the coast. This album takes readers on a journey through seaside houses and villas, exploring various cultures, traditions, and architectural techniques. On our free days, we enjoy coffee and browsing Life’s a Beach on the balcony among the trees.
Surf Shacks, saved the best for last! This book illustrates how surfers live both on and off the shore. The term “surf shack” can encompass various residences: city apartments, cottages nestled next to national parks, or tiny Hawaiian huts. It’s packed with creativity, innovation, and inspiration in 288 pages. In our store, you’ll find two volumes of Surf Shacks.
After getting inspired in theory, it’s time for practice! To liven up your living room, place an album on the coffee table alongside a colorful basket. Not only do their shapes inspire, but so does their history. The baskets you’ll find here are made in Ghana, specifically in its northern region. Bolga baskets derive their name from the town of Bolgatanga, where local craftsmen gather elephant straw, then split its blades in half. Each reinforcing strip is tightly twisted and dyed. Locals refer to them as “culture carriers.” Their shapes and colors embody the wisdom of those who have passed, those who craft them with respect for nature, and those who transmit this knowledge and culture to the world. We use Bolga baskets as bowls, laundry baskets, or interior accessories.
