Bongusta was born out of a love of color, design and tradition passed down from generation to generation. Each design of the brand is made in collaboration with artisans in India. They and their stories are hidden behind the hand-woven, 100% wool depictions of a tiger or cat. The rugs are created using the tufting technique, which guarantees the highest quality and warmth. Each creation also has loops sewn on the back, so that you can easily hang it on the wall. As the founders of the brand say, each rug has its own characteristics due to the “signature” of each weaver. If the rugs are used on the floor, treat it like any other wool carpet. The wool will shed a bit of hair, but it only takes a vacuuming from time to time. We recommend dry cleaning the rugs.
Bongusta is a company based on mutual respect. Suppliers are business partners and often friends. The team is therefore divided into two headquarters, one in Denmark and the other in Delhi. The latter was established to ensure good and comfortable conditions for workers in India, and to be guided by the principle of fair trade.
The dragon rug is a traditional motif, that we’ve given Bongusta-colours and lots of details to explore – for example the green lotus flower on the dragon’s back.
